Bail & Remand

This scheme offers short-term and emergency placements to young people aged between 10 and 17 years of age who are unable to live at home due to concerns about their behaviour. By providing accommodation, support and with the input of the Youth Offending Team, the aim is to give young people the opportunity to regain a more positive direction in their lives.
Many of the young people that are involved with this
scheme display a complex range of difficulties and welfare needs,
including substance misuse and the inability to maintain positive
relationships or manage within education settings.
The young people may come to the foster carers with some restrictions imposed by the Courts or Police. Bail and Remand carers work closely with the Youth Justice Agencies to help reduce the risk of the young person reoffending.

The fostering role can be challenging at time requiring an understanding and tolerance into why the young people may offend.
As one carer needs to be available at all times we have found that these placements work best where a couple are involved in providing the care.
